What Doctors & Patients Are Saying About LEAP-MRT:

Since 2001 I have been using MRT in my practice and have found it to be a very useful tool for my patients with non-allergic, but immune mediated food reactions. I routinely see substantial clinical improvement with my patients who are following a MRT predicted diet. In 2002 I conducted a study on autistic adults in which clinical outcomes were noticeably enhanced by the exclusion of foods and food chemicals that were MRT positive. Other data related to elevation of cytokine levels in food sensitive IBS patients before and after MRT food challenges clearly suggest that MRT is measuring a physiologically and clinically relevant condition.

W. Ted Kniker, MD

In my 25 years of practicing Preventive Medicine, LEAP-MRT is the most effective approach towards food sensitivity I have ever used. It not only gets my patients better but is cost effective as well. I feel that in the hands of a nutritionally aware physician, LEAP-MRT can revolutionize the health care industry.

Richard Sabates, MD

Author, The Preventive Diet

I first gained interest in LEAP after some of my patients were exposed to your program. I then worked with one of your nutritionists who was implementing the program and was amazed by the positive result which were gained by the patients. These patients lost weight and also experienced a marked decrease in their glucose values as well as having to take less medication to control their diabetes. I have since begun using the program frequently in my practice and my patients are very happy with the results. Difficult cases such as inflammatory arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, diabetes, chronic fatigue, migraine and other common complaints have responded extremely well.

Larry Gilderman, DO

Family Practice

Many of my patients who've gone on the LEAP Program have had remarkable improvement in disease conditions which, by conventional methods, were considered untreatable. I have found that many common conditions respond to the LEAP approach. It has been very helpful for inflammatory and irritable bowel disorders, eczema, fatigue, arthritic conditions, and other autoimmune problems. I frequently recommend LEAP to my patients as I have seen and know the benefits that can be obtained by changing their diet without putting the patient at any risk.

Arlene Martone, MD

Preventive Medicine, OBGYN

I see patients every day with irritable bowel syndrome, GERD and other functional digestive problems where diet can play a role in provoking symptoms. I have found LEAP-MRT to be a very useful tool. MRT reliably identifies reactive foods, and I consistently see remarkable clinical improvement in my patients by implementing a diet based on MRT results. I highly recommend MRT to any physician or patient who deals with any of these problems.

Fred Williams, MD

Gastroenterology

I am a Registered Dietitian, with 5 years higher education in Nutrition Sciences and Medical Nutrition Therapy and 26 years experience/continued education. I have been working with the LEAP-MRT for the past 4 years. Having the MRT test to guide my diet recommendations has helped hundreds of clients see dramatic physical improvements and resolution of symptoms for IBS, migraine, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain and more. It's rewarding to see patients get well, after many years of frustration with repeat doctor visits, routine medical care and medications that don’t fully resolve symptoms.

Five or six years ago when I was a junior in high school I started to get very sick every time I ate. I went to many different doctors and eventually had my gallbladder removed. I was better for a short amount of time. Then my freshman year of college my symptoms escalated to the point of unbearable. I was always near the bathroom due to constant diarrhea; I would have terrible abdominal and intestinal pain, headaches, severe joint pain, and acne flare-ups. I found it was difficult to participate in Ultimate Frisbee and the many other organizations that I am involved in. I was always ending up suffering from an attack. I also had trouble concentrating on my college classes. This is when my grandma suggested that I was possibly intolerant to gluten. This helped immensely. I then through trial and error was able to discover intolerances to gluten, dairy, nuts, potatoes and chocolate.

However after eliminating all of these foods I was still sick everyday. I was desperate to feel better. While at a SWE (Society of Women Engineers) conference I attended a seminar on food and was referred to a local dietitian who was LEAP certified. I was astonished when I finally found out how many different foods I was sensitive to. After I saw the results and looked back at some of my worst attacks, they were caused by my worst sensitivities. Some were common ingredients that I would have never been able to determine with out a test like garlic, ginger, yeast, beef, etc.

At first I found the LEAP program hard to fit into my busy college lifestyle but I made a commitment to feel better. Once you get through the first week or two it gets much easier. I learned invaluable skills I have used to improve my health immensely. I learned how to rotate foods, and modify recipes to fit my special needs. I no longer visit my local GI doctor several times a year with only a diagnosis of stress. I rarely have any food reactions any more; I have gained my concentration and happiness back. I can join in activities with my friends without being sick. I do have to plan ahead and bring my own food to events but this is a small sacrifice. With my newfound knowledge I have even been able to write a cookbook with over a hundred recipes to help other people who suffer from multiple food sensitivities.

I highly recommend the LEAP program to people who suffer from eating food. You should not go through life suffering everyday for no apparent reason. More often that not even foods you think are very healthy for you could be making you miserable. I have tried many ways of discovering food sensitivities and this is the only method I have found to work for me.

I was just thinking I should come by and post an update on myself and my daughter and our experiences with LEAP and how we are doing.

A little background: I have had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia for about 9 years, severe IBS-D for about 20 years and just general ill health and severe allergies to just about everything it seemed.

My daughter is 10 years old and appeared to be heading down the same path, health-wise, as me. She has severe allergies, severe eczema and just all around fatigue, big circles under her eyes and lots of aches and pains.

During my quest for health, I went to UCLA and was diagnosed with the FM and CFIDS but there was something going on in my GI tract that they couldn't pinpoint. One doc told me that what I had "acted like Crohn's, felt like Crohn's and looked like Crohn's, but wasn't". And that's kinda where I was left.

I decided to go after the illnesses I knew about- the FM and CFIDS. I found a wonderful superspecialist in Southern California who was able to help me with the constant pain and fatigue with the right combo of medications.

At that time, I found out about LEAP and the whole program. I felt like you, what did I have to lose? And really, after all the money I had spent, it was one of the cheaper medical tests I had been subjected to and one of the easiest. My insurance did pay for 80% of it, so that was even better. So I went for it.

I got the results right around my birthday (it'll be 2 years ago in August), and what an incredible birthday gift! (Although I didn't yet realize it!) I started on the diet, removing all the reactive stuff and giving it my best shot. After the initial reaction of my body to getting rid of all the "gunk" in my system, I started feeling better and better. My ever present IBS was gone and I was starting to forget to take my pain meds for my FM- which meant I wasn't needing them the way I had. For someone who has pain constantly, that is an incredible thing!! I decided to see how low I could go on my meds (I was taking about 20 different ones per day). After about 6 weeks, I was off all medications and no one was more surprised than me! I NEVER in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to get that much better! I was hoping to maybe drop 2 or 3 meds and get the GI stuff I had suffered with under control.

The wonderful and weird thing to me, is that I never, ever remember feeling this good throughout my entire life!

So, fast forward a few months and I start to see things in my daughter that are looking all too familiar. I decided to have her tested, just to see if there was some genetic thing going on here and she may have some of what I have. She had the blood test and yes, she sure did have what Mommy has.

We got her off her reactives and her rashes went away, her constant fatigue was gone and EVERYONE was remarking at the change in both of us and how good we looked. She finally has the energy of a normal kid, and is excelling at sports that she never would have been able to do before because of her lack of energy.

Its been sorta tough for her, as she is reactive to milk, and all artificial colorings, flavorings and preservatives as well as a few other assorted things. All fun kid food has this stuff in it. I really try to make it her decision when temptation comes up but she has no desire to cheat at all because she knows how rotten she will feel the next day. She doesn't even want to test it with some foods that might be borderline for her- she loves her newfound health that much.

Its been 1 1/2 years for me and 1 year for her and we have never been better!

I would strongly urge you to really consider this in your own quest for relief and health. Its not easy to comply at times, and gets a bit tricky when we eat out (I am reactive to wheat, olive oil, cucumbers, garlic, peanuts, cherries, coconut, chocolate and a few others)- but it is so worth it!

If you decide to go for it, please let us know how you do!

All my best,
Lisa from Nevada

I wanted to share my story with you ...I have had IBS-D for 40 years and have been to 100's of Dr's, hospitals, many, many test ...and they all come back ok. I also suffer from a condition called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome that causes horrible vomiting that you can throw-up from 4 hours to 30 + and can go longer. I have been sick since I was 4 and my first hospital admission was in 1961..I would have horrible pain and D, bad headaches, throwing up, nausea, I couldn’t leave the house for a long time. they said it was my gallbladder and took that out but that was unnecessary and also had a many other surgeries that wasn’t necessary and I had more then one Dr.’s opinions on getting these surgeries done. I guess they was doing what they thought would work. I couldn't figure out why I was still getting sick after all this work they had done !!! but today I know why .. I have been to many therapist trying to figure out the curse....and the anxiety that I had was due to being sick and them not being able to figure out what was going on....I come to this site as what I though was my last resort...and I haven’t a clue how I even found it.. maybe a lot of praying.. Anyway, I was here a few months and started reading about Leap and then I met Mike here on the board...Mike, went out on the limb after reading my post about my illness.. He knew there was something in me that I didn’t have to be sick anymore....He had faith that everyone else had given up on and that’s including me...I took the blood test with Leap and when it come back I saw all of the foods that I needed to stay away from and the number one food was apple and I have lived on Apple juice from the time I was 4 ..also, was coconut, and benzoic acid.. Since I have eliminated those foods from my diet it has been unbelievable...It took about 1 month for my system to get to normal. There is no way in the world I would have been able to figure out benzoic acid by keeping a food diary because I did have a clue that chemicals or foods could make you that sick....I watch very close what I eat now and also what’s surprising to me is that when the food and chemical isn’t in my system my anxiety is so much better...Anyway, I just wanted you to know that it really worked for me.. My insurance paid for all of my testing and that is such a small price to pay for the freedom I have today...As long as I can remember I have never had this long of period without any symptoms causing me daily problems...And I am off of all the medicines now and have a piece of mind that I haven’t had for a long time...The CVS has completely gone and I was at the point of almost loosing my job not that they would have fired me but the shame I was having from always being sick or in the hospital and not knowing what in the worked to tell anybody...Anyway, today is a new day and I feel like a different person...Thanks Mike for all of your help and the wonderful people that works at Leap Allergy they are very helpful to you...You know its hard to believe that a simple blood test and staying away from foods can make you better....and believe me I have been to some of the best hospitals in the world and have been a puzzle to them.....

Donna S.

Dear LEAP,
I just wanted you to know that I am doing so good. It has been almost three months now and I cant ever remember having a 3 months period where I haven’t had IBS-D, no nausea or vomiting, no headaches, my joints don’t hurt...And as of last Wednesday I am off of all medicines...I just wanted you to know that I am so grateful that I worked with Leap!!! It has made such a difference in my Life and I am doing things now that I haven’t been able to do in along time....

I bet the Dr's and Hospitals are wondering what ever happened to that girl who was always running over here

Dear Michal (one of our Certified LEAP Therapists),
This letter is to acknowledge how much better I feel after receiving food sensitivity testing and consultation from you. I have experienced IBS symptoms for a very long time, and didn't realize there was any other way to feel or live! Over time the symptoms got worse. The symptoms included abdominal pain, cramping, burning, gas and over-all physical and emotional discomfort. There was also a lot of unnecessary trial and error food elimination on my part, which along with the symptoms caused a lot of emotional distress.

So after receiving MRT testing and consultation from you, I feel so good, symptom-free, that I just had to write and acknowledge you! The other benefit is that I'm able to eat and enjoy foods that were unnecessarily eliminated from my diet for a long, long time, plus adjust the foods that were the culprits! My spouse also notices and is pleased with the results!

Thank you again!

Best regards,
Patty C.

I have not found anything else that helps turn my patients around more quickly with positive results while changing their diets. Doing the MRT Test helps me to get my foot into my client’s door to change their diet. It is very rewarding to see people become migraine and IBS free. Recently I had patient who became heartburn/reflux free after 35 years of suffering. I have helped many other people when everything didn’t work. Identifying food and chemical sensitivities has changed many people’s lives for the better when everything else failed.

I highly recommend any practitioner to include the MRT/LEAP program into their private practice.

This morning, (April 7, 2008), I had a very encouraging follow-up phone consultation with a mother. Her son is 8, and has had severe stomach/intestinal pain for years. He's growing well, and other parameters are normal, but he has had chronic gastrointestinal pain. He even had an appendectomy a year ago, and when he awoke from the anesthesia, he told his mom, "The pain's still there." He had often been doubled over in pain at school.

Well, after Phase 1 of the LEAP ImmunoCalm Diet, the mother reported that her son had NO pain!!! Because of the symptom resolution during week 1, both the mother and child are motivated to continue with the LEAP Program. The mom is telling all her friends about LEAP.

His Symptom Survey score has decreased from 27 to 2, and his GI symptom score has decreased from 11 to 2.

I have worked with LEAP Program patients for 14 months, and find it to be a very effective treatment modality for IBS, migraine, and other immune-related conditions. Often, IBS symptoms are decreased by 50-75 percent or more within the first week. In addition, LEAP Program patients notice more energy, less depression, anxiety and “brain-fog,” and enjoy much higher quality of life.

Some of my LEAP success stories are: the teenager whose migraines were resolved, the physician’s wife whose IBS-D was resolved within the first week of the LEAP Program, and the woman in her 60s who felt energetic enough to rake her yard, do long-neglected housecleaning, and work in her garden after work every day.

I derive great professional satisfaction from being able to help LEAP Program patients, and highly recommend Mediator Release Testing and the LEAP Program.

Last September, before I started the LEAP Program, my stomach was a mess! I had diarrhea for over 40 consecutive days, sometimes up to 13 times in one day. I had a constant bloated feeling. I consumed Zantec (150 mg) and over-the-counter medicines to no avail. My doctor could not get me under control, and proposed all sorts of intrusive testing.

I couldn’t believe the claim your people made that taking me off certain foods (in my case wheat and onions) would help my problems. But what a difference the LEAP Program has done for me. Only ONE instance of diarrhea in the three months I’ve been on the Program (I learned that I can’t drink cola with ice). No medicines! No bloatedness! And I’ve lost 9 pounds as a bonus!

You have been most helpful to me in getting “with the program” and paying attention to the labels. I’m on many new and different foods, and food preparation and shopping can be a pain, but the results have made a new person out of me. Ask my husband!

I want to thank you for the opportunity to take the MRT associated with Signet Diagnostic Labs and the LEAP Program itself. It has been the answer to a lifetime of ill health for myself and my daughter and I strongly recommend it to everyone I know who has faced some of our health problems. I had struggled with ill health for most of my life, but with a vengeance for the past seven years, and I had seen several Primary Care Doctors and GI’s. I have had GI studies, colonoscopies and a sigmoidoscopy that showed ulcers, small bowel scarring and swelling in my terminal ileum. I have had biopsies with a dermatologist that showed I suffered from some unknown autoimmune disease. I have tried Chinese Medicine doctors, acupuncture and chiropractic which all helped somewhat but there had been no total relief. I finally ended up at UCLA in July 1999. There, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and told I had something going on in my GI tract that they didn’t know how to diagnose yet. From there I went to see Dr. Jay Goldstein, a world renowned expert in treating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome. There, I was diagnosed with both Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. He told me that my GI complaints were something he often sees in his patients and he attributed it to the FM and CFIDS themselves. I started his regimen of pharmacotherapy and was mostly symptom free for about 3-4 months. I had built up a tolerance to the medications and needed to try something else. After going back three different times, I was taking approximately 20 different medications two to three times a day. I was feeling pretty good but still struggled with this unknown GI illness from time to time. That’s when I heard about the MRT and LEAP. I felt it was one more piece of knowledge about my body that I could potentially benefit from. When I had the blood drawn, I was hoping that I might be able to drop maybe three or four medications from my regimen and get control of my GI complaints. I received the results right after my birthday in August 2000 and it turned out to be the birthday present of a lifetime! I started on the elimination diet and felt pretty bad - just as I had been told that I would. Then, it eased up and I started feeling better and better. I lost some of the weight I had been desperately trying to lose for two years and I was forgetting to take my medications. That in itself is amazing as the medication I was taking was mostly for the pain I was suffering from the FM and CFIDS. I thought I would slowly drop my meds one by one to see how low I could get. After about six weeks, I was off ALL my medications! That alone paid for the MRT in about three months! I considered it could be a placebo effect, and I was prepared for that possibility. Here I am nine months later and still feeling wonderful, losing weight at a moderate pace and surprising my family and friends with how great I feel and look! The sparkle is back in my eyes and the color is back in my face. What an incredible gift to give my children and husband to have "me" back!! And no placebo effect!

I have had many doctors, nurses, friends and relatives ask me about the MRT and LEAP, in view of my success, and they have passed my story on to countless others or contacted Signet Diagnostic Labs to take the test for themselves. I have nothing but good things to say about the support I received from Mr. Hoffman, Mr. DeMitchell and my LEAP Dietician Jennifer McKee. They were always professional, supportive and very friendly. I feel so strongly about this program that I had my nine year old daughter tested as she was showing some of the same symptoms I had as a child. She has had the same kind of success as I did and there is no higher recommendation I can give than to have my own child take this test.

I personally feel, based on the numbers of people I encounter in my personal life as well as in my role as Community Leader for a Digestive Conditions Community, that this type of technology will really revolutionize many people’s lives as it has for my daughter and myself. I believe it is the thing many of us have been searching and waiting for for years. And not just for the GI problems I had of ulcers, very painful swelling, small bowel scarring and Irritable Bowel Syndrome - but also for the role food intolerance obviously plays in Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome and for who knows how many other diseases.

With gratitude,

I chose the Leap program hoping to get some sort of relief from my digestive problems and chronic diarrhea. My condition had gradually worsened over the past year and had become very uncomfortable and humiliating for me. I was so surprised, when after only 4 days on the LEAP Program I started to feel results.

Eliminating harmful foods from my body has made me feel like a new person. I now, have normal bowel movements, no bloating, lower blood pressure, a truly great sense of well-being and newfound energy! This LEAP Program really works!! .

I have been following the LEAP program for about 1 month now. I have struggled with severe D for 4 years, and I have spent the entire summer bed bound because I could not eat anything and kept feeling so sick. Within a week of following LEAP, I started to feel better. I have been symptom and medication free for the entire month, and the only attack that I have had occured when I cheated and had something that I shouldn't have had. I now have the energy to wake up at 5 am and workout before work, and “I have NEVER felt better in my life!!!!!” Before LEAP, I would never eat out - now, I can eat out and not worry about getting sick! I can shop without getting sick, and I can work without calling in sick!!!!!

As a Board Certified Family Physician operating a busy family practice, I commonly run across Migraine and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I was introduced to the LEAP Disease Management Program approximately 1-1/2 years ago and have been very pleased with the results. Roughly 50% of the patients I've put on the LEAP Program report tremendous improvement in their chief complaint and global symptoms. Another 25% report noticeable benefits. I have a special interest in therapies targeted towards migraine because I too am a long time migraine sufferer. In addition to helping my patients, LEAP has also identified my own trigger foods and food additives, helping to decrease the frequency and intensity of my own migraines. I highly recommend the LEAP Program to any physicians concerned with improving outcomes for their IBS and Migraine patients.

For 40 years I’ve had migraines, the last 20 +/- with a headache every day. I’ve tried all the “new” drugs, acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, massage, etc. Nothing seemed to help other than to give minor and temporary pain relief.

Finding the LEAP program has been like finding a miracle. Since starting the LEAPDisease Management Program two months ago I haven’t had a full blown Migraine, and the chronic headache has been completely eliminated. The headaches I do get are treated successfully with buffered aspirin and the occasional Butalbital (Fiorinal). I’ve been able to eliminate all of my other pain and prophylactic meds.

With the LEAP program, and without the constant pain, I have more energy and quite a few of my other aches and pains have gone away.

Thank you from me and all of my family!

Anita Peine

I took the MRT test on Sept. 20, 2002. I have followed the diet, plus left off some foods I have known to have problems with in the past. I have been without a headache for 2 whole weeks. This is the longest time since 10 years of age, I have been without a headache and I am 64. Usually, I was only headache free one day a week. That one day was usually followed by a king size migraine the following day. I am very thankful to all those responsible for the help.

Thank you,

A follow-up letter from Gladys Hunting…

It has been almost 5 months since I have been on the LEAP ImmunoCalm Diet. I wanted you to know I have had excellent results with the diet. Without the test there would have been no way to know the foods giving me problems. I had sensitivities to quite a few things including food dyes, preservatives, corn, cow’s milk, and spices, which are ingredients in so many foods.

Before I started the diet, I had severe digestive disturbances, constant headaches, weight imbalances, food cravings, coughing, mood swings, unable to sleep at times. I am happy to report all of these symptoms are gone since about the 10th day of the diet. I have lost 6 pounds. I cook everything from scratch now, strictly adhere to the diet and feel so much healthier. Please continue to use this method of treatment on others with these problems. It has been a lifesaver for me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Respectfully yours,
Gladys Hunting

I want you to know that I’m so very glad I found LEAP. Since I joined last month and found out what foods I was reactive to and have taken these foods out of my diet, I have had only 2 headaches which were relieved with 2 Tylenol, instead of the 6 to 8 Tylenol a day, which is what I was taking daily. And also I have had at least 2 migraine headaches a week for quite awhile which I took Cafergat and 2 Tylenol with no relief for most of the day, and now I have not had a migraine headache for at least a month now and a rare stress headache. Thank you,

Jean Rose
